We contribute to the promotion of inclusive sports together with the Alba Sports Club.
- The cycling team is made up of about fifteen athletes and has a long history, being a reference team at the Spanish level as a cycling team made up of people with other abilities.
- They stand out for the annual challenge they undertake, a long-distance route of over 300 kilometers in 5 or 6 stages, as well as their participation in the Special Olympics.
At ISPROX, we have started a sponsorship with the non-profit association Grup Alba, being the main sponsor of their cycling team made up of about fifteen athletes.
The Alba Cycling Club was founded in 2005 with the aim of promoting sports for people with a great spirit of self-improvement. They started by doing routes and small trips around the region, but the cyclists themselves wanted to go abroad and discover new routes.
They themselves propose possible long-distance routes, which are usually done in good weather. In the 10 years since its creation, they have done routes in Holland, France, and Spain. So far, they have completed the following routes: the Camino de Santiago (May 2006), La Vía Augusta (June 2007), the Canal du Midi (June 2008), and the Ruta del Quijote (May 2009). The project for 2010 was the Vía de la Plata (May 2010), the Vías Verdes de Girona, the Bandoleros route in Andalusia, etc.
Over the years, the cycling project has grown and, in addition to the 15 cyclists who undertake long-distance routes, groups of different levels have also been created according to the abilities of the participants. From people who ride tricycles to those who have learned to ride bicycles as adults, all of them participate in weekly sports training in the town.
The Club has received one of the IV Inclusive Sports Awards of Catalonia for the project “The dream: the long-distance cycling route to travel around the peninsula”.
"Being able to participate in such beautiful and inclusive initiatives as this one makes us proud and gives us encouragement and enthusiasm to continue helping the communities in our environment."
